My car has recently been 'totalled' or 'written off'.

The Insurance Company have requested a number of documents to be produced (driving licence etc), but they have also requested copies of the original invoice at time of purchase, to prove how much I paid for the vehicle.

i can't find these documents and forget where it was purchased from. It was a sale from a private trader, and the V5 Document has no information either.

Do they legally have the right to request this information? Could my settlement be put in jeopardy as a result. I thought the settlement was based on Market Value.

Could someone advise?
