Ford Ka - can anyone tell me how to correctly use jump leads - VW-Beetlelove

my ford ka has a flat battery, ive got the jump leads and my vw beetle running, help what is the correct way to connect the batteries and start my ka. Many thanks

Turn both cars off. Connect the positive ( + red ) terminal of the KA to the postitve terminal of the VW. Connect the negative ( - Black ) of the Ka to the VW. Start the VW and leave it running for ten minutes ideally reving it up to 2500 rpm or so occasionally. Now turn to VW off and immediately start the Ka. If it starts then disconnect the negative from the Ka then the VW and the same for the positive. Turnin the VW off when starting the Ka protects the VW alternator and electronics. Regards Peter

Also be sure that the bodies of the two vehicles are not in contact with each other.
