Thanks for your comments - Sorry but made a mistake I also had a new clutch along with the starter motor and alternator which cost me Around £500 in total. However I have asked someone else and they also said they didn't think the cams would need changing on my vehicle - so I will certainly query this if I decide to go ahead and replace the head gasket. Do you think £400 is about right for the head gasket or am I being ripped off!!! Still not sure whether to do this work but I just can't send it to the scrap yard - It is a good little runner when all said and done.
