97 peugeot 306 td - rebuilding cylinder head - chrisbigmouth

Hi,

I've recently replaced the head gasket on my 306. Got it all rebuilt & running, but found I had an oil leak. Traced it back to the vacuum pump on the end of the cam. I hadn't replaced the seal on the oil feed from the head.

However, while checking, I discovered that there was a metal ball bearing missing form the hole that feeds the vacuum pump with oil. Now, I've been & got another one from peugeot, but my question is, how do I fit it??

I've tried fitting it in the end of the hole, but it won't go. It looks like it needs to go 'in from the back.' Anybody know of how I can do this? Or do I need to take the head off again? Do I need it, or would the oil pressure blow the seal out?

Cheers, Chris.

I have done quite a bit with XUD engines but can't help you with that problem I'm afraid, I would suggest you try http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=4
