Daewoo Matiz - Tomcat

A mate at work is selling his wife's Matiz (800 SE). It's S reg, done less than 30k and is in good condition. They've only be offered £1500 part ex against a Seat Leon and he says I can have it if I give him a bit more than that (£1600 maybe?). Is it a good buy? I have read that it requires a belt change at 4 yrs old. Is this an expensive job? Are there any long term problems with this model?

Daewoo Matiz - J Bonington Jagworth

Sounds like a bargain. I think they're neat, and although I've no first-hand knowledge, I believe they are basically sound. The engine is an established design (Daihatsu?) I believe.
