Vauxhall Nova - temp gauge problem - neeky

Not sure if anyone can help but i have a F reg '89 Nova. Recently had a radiator hose burst and looked like head gasket was blown too. Just had fitted new head gasket, thermostat, temp sender and water pump and hose, radiator and other hoses checked and ok. Now when car is started, temp gauge starts to rise straight away and gets to 3/4 mark within a minute or two, obviously engine can't be that hot that quickly so wondered if anyone had any ideas as to why its happening, thanks.

Worth trying the original temp sender back in again just to see if you get the same result. (Maybe you're new is duff or wrong one.....)...........ebt

So, even if the engine's stone cold, and you simply switch the ignition on, the temp guage goes up ?

Or do you mean it goes up after a very short run time. If so, have you check for an airlock in the cooling system ?.....ebt
