Is there a good lubricant to use on the pedals. Gear pedal seems a little notchy so thought I would give it a dose of something but don't really want to start spraying oil around especially as the joint is directly above the pedal.

Gear pedal ? Don't think I've got one of those.
Or are we not talking of a car ?

Thanks all for advice and Mark sorry that my techno speak isn't quite up to scratch :-)

Do you mean the pivot on the clutch pedal is stiff? I had the same problem on my Xsara, WD40 worked for a while, but it tends to dry and get dirty, next time I would just use a regular oil in an aerosol.
As long as you cover the pedal you won't make it slippery for future use.

As suggested oil or grease is ok, but check the clutch cable (if used)is not the problem, could be binding.

PTFE spray (for sawblades) or a lithium 'white' spray is good for this sort of problem. WD40 is not actually a lubricant, but can appear so as the solvent can liquify dried grease.
