Anyone out there able to explain to me the minefield that is coil packs on peugeots? I have a 306 with a duff pack and need to know what to do about it. it has happened to me before, about a year ago, i replaced the coil pack with one from the scrappers and it was fine, but now it is gone again.

It is a sagem pack if this helps (dare i say the word sagem!)

The coil packs are weak & tend to spike the ECU. replacing with S/hand is not a good idea!. Fit new plugs and coil pack together. This will reduce the chance of spiking the ECU!

please explain what you mean by spiking the ecu??

i can do mechanics but electrics give me a headache :P

A spike is a spurious high voltage delivered for a nano second long enough and high enough to fry the ECU.

how do i tell if ecu is fried :(
