Renault Modus - Renault Modus - any good? - daveyK_UK

Hi

I need of a small run around which has a fairly 'high-up' driving position.

A friend has offered me their Renault Modus 57 plate 25k 1.2 Turbo Dynamique for £4,250 (they got offered £4,400 as a trade in)

Its a nice drive and i like the air con and part leather.

However, being a renault puts me of it (reliability)

And the 1 hour and 14 screws to remove to change a light bulb (the bonnet is tiny and difficult to access any thing)

The clutch is fairly high and it is now due its 3 year service.

My questions are

Are the Modus any good?

Is the 3 year service a standard one or does it also require changing any of the engine parts?

Does the price seem good?

Its a while since I was in the trade, any replies appreciated.

I have been driving a Modus for the last 3 or so years and have been pleasantly surprised. It is a 1.2 which is not surprisingly a little sluggish although not bad at motorway cruising speeds. I don't think the 1.2 is a turbo tho' .

In terms of reliabiliyty no complaints. It has done 31k and hasn't missed a beat and nothing has fallen off.

Headlamp bulbs needed replacement and time at dealer was 0.2 hours so better than I was expecting.

Roomy internally and carries some impressive loads .

Boot does not hold a great deal but rear seat moves to increase boot capacity.

Don't think 3 year service requires anything out of the ordinary.

Price does not appear unreasonable.

Maybe it's academic , but if you are keen on the Modus package I would consider a Nissan Note instead.

It's the same fundamental platform, but the Nissan build would edge it for me over Renault. I also happen to prefer its looks.

I have gone for it.

The price is slightly below average for trade so I cant complain.

Im impressed with the head room and visabilty.

Lets hope it proves reliable.
