Was driving along the motoway and the car engine stop light came on and the engine went off. pull over and tried to start the car the engine turns over but the glow plug light does not come on? Call out the rac he tried a few things then plug his laptop into the fuse box he said he could not connect with the ECU . he said the ecu is at fault . can anyone help.

It seems like a pretty good diagnosis to me unfortuneatly these cars are law unto themselves.It needs taking to a Renault specialist who can give it a proper coat of looking at and do not be suprised if they cannot find the fault..

I would not condemn the engine Ecu just yet.The fact that you have no engine warning light and no communication with the ecu tends to suggest that there is an electrical power loss to the system.Possible fuse/relay/wiring fault.hth
