"i have beeen told it could be either the injecters blocked or the fuel pump"

yeah right.

Has anyone checked the fault codes? Cos if they have not, they should. And if they have they should be able to be more specific.

It could be lots of other things like a blocked fuel filter (when was it last changed?) or carbonning up of the EGR or whatever sensors are involved - don't know the engine involved.

I would try a diesel specialist as the "main dealer" sounds iffy.

There are known problems with the EGR and a also the turbo actuator there are also a number of pipes that split and cause the symptoms you describe. You need to check every hose around the EGR and manifold with great care, help can also be found on the Jaguar/Mondeo forums. EGR valves can be purchased for around £40 the actuator if its electronic can only be purchased with the turbo and are around £700 or much cheaper for a used one on ebay, pumps and injectors can be bought also on ebay pumps tend to be very expensive but injectors can be sourced at reasonable cost.Having run one of these excuses for a mondeo after many problems I got it running ok and sold it.

has the fuel filter been changed ? check the fuelpipes under the o/s/r wheel arch for kinks! yes they are metal but I have seen them folded ! air flow meters can be suspect as are EGR valves. The wires in the air flow meters on the 2.0ltr D are prone to breaking just inside the plug. As already metioned find a good indy or diesel specialist. check the actuator linkage on turbo is free, only the 2.2 was fitted with the VVTurbo which was electronic.
