Peugeot 407estate - Timing chain - Auto

My Peugeot is eight years old and has a milage of 58,000. It is a 2 litre turbo diesel ,

When do I have to have the timing chain renewed?

I have received mixed advice about this and I am cinfused.

I assume you mean timing belt ,I would not thought it possible to have a 8 year old 407 anyway whatever the car I would change it sooner than later a new engine is rather an expensive item.

If it's a chain - the answer is 'never'.

If it's a belt - look in your service book; it will show you which service recommends a timing belt change.

I have already checked my service book and it refers me to our Peugeot garage .

There are two in area and two different sets of advice.

HDI engines are now 100k but yours is a few years old I would change it asap to save any problems .

Belt change interval is 100,00 miles or ten years - whichever occurs soonest..

Its a belt with change intervals at 160miles.
