Can anyone provide the sequence for checking/adjusting the valve clearances on my 1990 1.3 OHV Escort engine? The Haynes manual doesn't make sense

0.20mm inlet
0.30mm exhaust.
If rocker 1 is depressed adjust 7
2 and 8
5 and 3
6 and 4
1 and 8
2 and 7
3 and 6
4 and 5
Where the thermostat end starts with no1.
That's what I did with my son's Fiesta..from Haynes

1990 Model year has HCS head which is different from earlier Valencia head.
1 down, adjust 8
2 " " 7
3 " " 6
4 " " 5
5 " " 4
6 " " 3
7 " " 2
8 " " 1
Ordinary valencia EX,IN,EX,IN,EX,IN,EX,IN
HCS Engine goes EX,IN,EX,IN,IN,EX,IN,EX
Dont worry if they are still noisy, to get them really quiet requires the rubbing face on the rocker to be ground off.
