All tyres sold in the EU should have either an "E" or an "e" or both;the big "E" is the UN ECE regulation-the small "e" is the EU directive-they are either very old stock or non-approved-probably third world tyres.

Thanks, does this mean im commiting an offence using these tyres and has the supplier also commited a offence in fitting these tyres?

No in-service requirement in the UK that I know of but ask the firm for an explanation. The E/e approvals are granted after seeing and checking samples of the tyres and also, possibly, more important, checking their manufacturing facilities and checking samples of their production, not just what was submitted to get the initial approvals. If you can't get a satisfactory explanation, take it up with Trading Standards.
