my fiesta 1.1 is losing a large amount of water ,first i thought it was the radiator but when running the engine the water seems to be escaping underneath the fanbet cog, i have also checked the hoseclips to make sure they are secure enough does anybody have any idea what might be the cause of the water loss? any thoughts appreciated..thanks

thanks HJ me thinks a trip down to my local car spares store is reqd i had a sneaking suspicion it would possibly not be the hoses but the pump itself as i checked all the hosing from the rad and it seemed ok. i have not done a water pump before is it fairly simple to take out/replace ?

On an OHV Fiesta it could not be easier;
1.Remove Fanbelt
2.Remove fan pulley from pump-4 bolts and hose.
3.Remove pump from engine-3 bolts.
4.5.6. Reverse of 1,2,3.
About 1/2 hour;and thank God that you don't have a "modern" dohc with drive belts et alia.
