KIA Sedona - One squirt from the injectors then it stops - nowthenhonest

Kia Sedona 2.9TDi (Year 2000)

We have just swapped the engine on my Sedona for another Year 2000 engine (about 9 months younger). It turns the engine over but will not fire.

We are getting diesel to the top of the injectors. We have disconnected one of the fuel pipes from the injector and connected it to an injector from the old engine, so that we can see if it sprays. At one stage we did see it repeatedly spraying. We then disconnected the electrical connection to the immobilier unit on the fuel pump, to see if that would stop the spraying. It did but once we had reconnected it, it would no longer spray as before. If we bleed the fuel pipe so that we have fuel to the top of the injector then we turn the engine over and get one large spray and no more.

Can anyone help please?

Thank you

i am no specialist on kia's by any means but did you swap pumps from your old engine to you newer engine my guess is that you did not thats why its immobilised, is there not a light on the dash to tell you its immobilized, if so whats it doing ? flashing/solid go out and stays out ?, Regards TB

We used the pump that came with the new engine. A KIA dealer told me that that would not be a problem. I am certainly having my doubts now. However, if it is immobilised then why am I getting a pulsating supply of diesel at the top of the injectors? There is no light on the dash. The IMMO light goes off and stays off.
