Comparing Gas & oil heating. - almac

I use about 2000 litres of home heating of oil each year, is there any way to find out what the equivalent usage in gas consumption would have been.

I am finding it hard to really compre the running costs. Here in N. Ireland we only have one gas company so there is very little competition apart from between oil and gas.

Thanks,

Alan.

According to Google, 2000 litres of domestic heating oil equates to about 20.54 MWh.

This is roughly around 25,500 hundreds of cu.ft of gas, I say roughly as it depends on the calorific value of the gas at the time which does vary (as does oil).

British Gas (UK) standard domestic tariff off their website suggests approx 6.6p/kWh which is £1355.64.

Does that help?

Thank you that is exactly what I had been trying to find out. I reckon that the oil over the last year was about £1400.

Given that our boiler is over 20 years old there will be savings no matter which type of boiler we change to.

Thanks again.
