HI, I have a 2003 Peugoet Partner 2.0 HDI with a damaged gearbox.

At the weekend it slipped out of 5th gear whilst I was doing about 80mph - there was a sickening crunch and the smell of burning metal.

It still drives - just - but gearchanges are difficult and it sounds terrible.

Im stuck what to do never having had a car with gearbox trouble?

Am I better off buying a second hand gearbox (ebay £200 approx) and getting a price to swop this out?

Can anyone give me an idea how much I would be charged to get the gearbox swopped over?

All advice very gratefully received.
