I have a Golf MK.IV 2.0. The rear wiper suddenly stopped this morning. When the wiper stops the motor is still running as you can hear it, the wiper will also carry on moving if you just nudge it. Does anyone know what can cause this and is it an easy fix.

Does it always appear to stop in the same position. If the motor continues to run then it sounds like the nylon drive wheel has lost some teeth. Oooch +Vat. Try Eurocarparts or German and Swedish ( No it is not a Magazine ) Regards Peter

You could try tightening the nut that holds the arm on. This can come loose and cause the motor to move, but not the arm.

I made an assumption that he had tried the plain obvious but may be not.

Usually if this nut comes loose you end up cleaning the number plate and removing paint. Peter

Nut is only part that i have been able to check and seems tight.
Sounds as if peter has got it right as it does stop in the same place. Hope it is covered by the warranty! Thanks for your help.
