00 1.9 Has my heater matrix gone ? - amans
Hi all,

I have a Laguna 1.9 DTI alize, the temperature light on the dash is coming
on intermittently and the footwell in the passenger side is wet, i have to keep
putting the heater on to clear the windows as they keep steaming up. however
the engine temperature is normal (halfway) and i am not losing any any
coolant from the expansion tank, it always seems to be full to the max line.
It is an air con model but it has never worked since i had the car (2yrs)

any advice much appreciated

Sounds very much like it, can you smell antifreeze with the heater on? One of my XMs has a leaking matrix but the water level hardly drops, a little water goes a long way.

there doesn't seem to be any smell at the moment, also i was wondering how long can i continue to drive it with this problem, will it breakdown eventually even if the coolant level is ok and engine temp normal?

Mine has been leaking for some time, the chief problem is the smell, the car has a high concentration of antifreeze in it and although I don't mind it to much, others complain. I am in the process of changing it for that reason, but it could go on for a long time, you will know when its urgent.

many thanks peter for your advice, i will continue to drive it then as it
doesn't smell too bad and there are no engine temperature issues at the moment
