96 1.6 Auto - EML coming on. - saxondruid

My engine management light come on when I decellerate or brake from speeds above 60 mph, this does not occur every time nor does it happen at speeds below 60 mph.
My car is a Vauxhall Astra 1.6 GLS Automatic

i had this a lot with the old 8 valve corsa:s 1.4 on the overun down a hill
it was usually down to a nipped air pipe from the end of the airbox to the single point injector

mine used to do that. didnt effect the driving though. does it smell a bit rich at tickover. get it code read . if your guessing id go for egr valve. o2 sensor
