Renault Clio III (2005 - 2009) - 05 2.0 Air Conditioning Problems

05 2.0 Air Conditioning Problems - Glaikit Wee Scunner {P}
Actually a 182 Renaultsport Clio. In my BILs car at the weekend and he suddenly lost control of the air conditioning /fan. Blowing hard all the time and not responding to the OFF button either. Going into a specialist today but what might have gone wrong? Coolant has never been topped up- could that be the problem or might it be a typical Renault obscure electrical fault.

Sounds like the electronic fan speed controller has thrown a wobbly.It is located in the engine bay,drive side,just below windscreen ,in blower motor air duct.hth

Thanks for that. BIL has found second hand parts (with a 3 month warranty) are available.But at £65, seems expensive.

Sounds expensive for a s/h unit.I think a new unit from Renault is not a lot more.Around £80.hth

BIL has now beaten his local Renault dealer down to £89 (matching a mail order outlet). They also wanted £80 to fit it, but he has done a dry run on removing the old unit and will DIY.

A 182 Clio Renaultsport is all I can remember.
Anyway, BIL has just told me the new module has sorted things out. Thanks for such a confident diagnosis elekie&a/c doctor.
