If you are lucky it might be a one off. Could be the battery but the car isn't very old. Could be as a result of the Dual Mass Flywheel beginning to break up.

How many miles has it done?

I'm no expert but my brother in law had the same symptoms with his Mondeo.

The dmf breaks up and the bits clog the starter. Cleaning the starter or replacing will give you some time.

In the end after two new starters and eventually the symptoms reoccuring he just traded it in as it was. I don't know the exact mileage but he had a 40 mile commute so must have been rather high!

Yes, I'm afraid this is almost certainly the DMF breaking up.

If you intend to keep the car then you are probably looking at about a £900 job for a new DMF, clutch and starter motor.

If not, just fit a new starter motor and flog it quick!
