I run a 1999 Merc C280. I'm delighted with the car, but every time it goes into the MB garage for routine services, the bills are frightening. Does anybody know of any independent operations who have access to MB tools and techniques in the West Midlands ... or anywhere else??

There is a nationally known independent MB garage which, whilst I've not used it, comes highly recommended on the MB owners site forum: Andy Gayle, Oldbury (don't know phone number, but it's on the A457 Oldbury-Cape Hill road, almost opposite Eurocarparts).

I use a firm in Birmingham, they only work on Mercs and trained at main dealers. Ads in all club mags. Howard Williams Mercedes Specialists, 28 Florence Street, Birmingham B1. Tel: 0121 622 7274. Speak to Howard. Very helpful, knows Mercs inside out. Prices for work are very good. Simon.
