The above is a link to a very shiny and heavily restored 1972 Rover 3.5B Coupe.

Lots of nice pics - well worth a look.

It's on offer from a specialist dealer at £POA.

I've asked for a guide price.

For a bit of fun, would anyone like to guess how much they will be asking?

I'll post the price later in the day/when I get it.

It's certainly shiny but it doesn't look heavily restored to me. Take a good look at the pic of the engine bay...
Doesn't impress me hugely.
£15,995 to someone impressed by the tyres.

This is quite superb, I have worked on & driven many of these in my time and IMO they drive as good as some rollers ... whats it worth? well, whatever one will pay for it, it's an unusual colour and in pristine condition - I'd be proud to own it.

He's got Ebay-itis, I see...

"THE ROVER 3.5 B COUPE WAS THE CAR OF THE 60'S AND 70'S WHERE THE QUEEN, PRIME MINISTER, AND THE SOCIAL ELITE ALL CHOSE THIS AS THERE MAIN MODE OF TRANSPORT."

Who were the social elite of the 60s and 70s, anyway?

I was, with my '56 Austin A40 Cambridge, '62 Consul 375, A60 Cambridge, Moskvich 412, Austin 1800, Triumph 2000 and crowning glory of the 70's - Austin Maxi!

Can someone explain this to me as I never had much edumacation I'm afraid, but at least my school was approved.
Is it to do with high-rollers?

Not so much high-rollers as heavyweight rollers...

Would not touch with a 10 metre pole (the wooden type, not the human one).

Rust and an inability to travel anywhere up any hill in snow or ice... and a barge like capacity...

(I used to drive old Rovers as well .. 16,75,90,110, SD1..)

So, did they come up with a price, ifithelps?

Yes, and it was quite a good shout from yourself, Mike.

Well, in fact it was the only shout since no-one else was prepared to come up with a figure - what an unadventurous lot you are.

I am told by the dealer the Rover is still being worked on, but when sale time comes it will be offered for around £20,000.

Gulp.

For what it's worth, my immediate reaction when I saw the ad was £12/13,000, so that puts me second - or last, if you prefer - in the guessing game.

Might be cheaper than some of the stuff at my local ex Rover dealer.

Ha ha. £13k for an 03 plate MG ZS 180. A work colleague got one brand new in the months after Rover's collapse for £11k

Nice car actually. He's still got it and is well pleased.

Cheers

i drove by the original link today
i could have called in and given it a rev and kicked the tyres if i had realised
went by a few years ago and watched a car drive straight into a street sign post outside the gaff it was so funny like in slow motion (they were probably rubbernecking)

i thought he would have asked $26999 so its cheap really
i think as said the engine bay could do with a bit of a wash and brush up though

There's no plumbing the depths of human stupidity.

That RWD = useless on slippy stuff has more bovine bodily waste in it than a slurry pit. The P5 is a great car in such conditions, actually - effortless torque, just keep your revs down and it'll pull like a train. Also, it was very well-built and they only rust if abused. A well-looked after one is damn near rust-proof. And what's wrong with barge-like capacity? I'm not sure if you're referring to the handling or the space, but the P5 is a fine-handling car (though no 5-series), it's wonderful if you just want to waft along luxuriously, and has huge amounts of space. I don't know how much this guy wants for it, but I'd buy it in a heartbeat and give it a respray into Admiralty Blue or Arden Green on the lower half.
