Hi all
My friends 406 is slow. You can just about feel turbo kicking in at 2500 rpm.
We checked all hoses even at the back of the engine no leaks.
No excesive black smoke either
Is this a common problem?
BTW I has 3 406's 1.9dt and 1 306 1.9dt and they all much quicker.

The 406 is a very heavy car for a 1.9, so they do tend to feel slow, the 2.1 is much better. Has the performance dropped off or has it always been like this? If you can feel a boost at about 2000 - 2500 rpm then it sounds like its working OK. The usual problem is the small pipe from the intercooler to the pump, it goes hard and cracks, this senses the boost pressure and increases the fuel accordingly.
