98 1.4 Wobbling/hunting at tick over. - 1.4tdci
Hi guys.

my sister has a rover 414 1998. it has only covered 50,000 miles and is in very good condition. However it is hunting and wobbling slightly at tick over. It does not do it it until the car is warm.

Ive heard the throttle body being plastic can warp maybe thats the problem does anyone have anyother ideas.....?

Regards.

Charlie.

Don't know this particular engine but uneven tickover is usually a sign of power being down on one cylinder.

Have a diagnostic check & chack the live data for the map sensor reading. they are prone to air leaks around the o rings for the map sensor & inlet manifold gasket around no 4 cylinder. have a look for A/freeze stains under the inlet manifold. Check all the vacum pipes as a small leak will upset 1 cylinder at tickover. Brake servo leaking ?
Low mileage car at that age could have sticky valves! there is a trick to remedy this witout using snake oil or dismantling. If sticky valves are diagnosed then post back
