97 1.6 missing key for locking wheel nuts - GeorgieRover
We now have a slow puncture on our 97 Rover 416, and it would appear that we have no unlocking key for the wheel nuts.

Can you get these as spares anywhere?

Some seem to think we will have to get the existing ones sheered off and buy a brand new set

There are various methods of removal (of which I won't go into detail on a public forum - a google search will no doubt throw up some suggestions). Most tyre garages will have a device (a ripper socket for example) that should shift them for some beer money.

You'll probably have to replace them though.

At a time when I thought I had lost of my unlocking 'keys' the cost of a getting replacement, and waiting for it to turn up, was more than the cost of 4 news bolts and their key.

Suggestion from Rover Forum was a universal wheel nut from Machine Mart... Anyone tried these before?

They should do the trick, but at £57.48 for something you need for one job its an expensive way of going about it. I would suggest that you track down a garage to do the job for you that should be a bit cheaper than buying your own tools.

Is it worth trying one of the universal ones on e-bay (10.99)

The one I saw on there was only £11!
