04 1.6 Centre upper brake light - Gordy1954

1st of all this is my first use of a forum so please excuse any faults, I own a 04 reg 307sw 1.6 110 HDI. My problem is I am trying to remove the rear upper centre brake light to replace some bulbs. I have followed the manual and also a haynes workshop manual, these tell you to use two screwdrivers and press down on some lugs beneath some trim inside door frame to release the light unit. I can only "feel" one lug (cannot see inside), when I press down it makes no difference and the unit wont budge!
Has anyone had to do this piece of maintenance and if so, any tips/advice?
