EBC Brakes - Marc
Looking to source a new set of front pads and discs for our Galaxy. I seem to have a choice of Ford/Motorcraft, Mintex or EBC.

I've heard of EBC but never used them before. Are they a good brand?

Comments please.

Thanks.

In short, yes. Been around for several years now.

Good kit. My ZZR600 is currently wearing EBC HH sintered pads and they work well. Used EBC pads and discs on various cars with good results.

used them on my 1.8 escort and puma, and now on the v40 volvo.
got some on my GT mountain bike!!! yep really...
apart from the push bike one of the things thats really good is the low amount of brake dust generated.
.,
make sure you get the right type. ie "green stuff" for normal road use.
or "black stuff" again a direct replacement...
red stuff pads are often for high performance cars and owners who like taking part in track days, as they have a higher operating temp, this is offset by having not such a good stopping power from cold.
.
have fun
Paul.
also used the ebc "turbo groove discs" these are anodised so they don't rust on the hub which again is nice when mounted on a car with alloy wheels.

I would be embarrassed to ask for "green stuff" and have painted green pads showing through my wheels, but I have heard they are good with very little dust.

The EBC rep who visits us recommends Green Stuff up to 180bhp, and Red Stuff for road cars higher than that. The Green Stuff is brilliant for keeping the dust down.

Thanks for all the replies - will be ordering the EBC brakes.

Don't order Green Stuff brake pads - the compound is harder than normal pads and wears the disc faster. Get the original quality ones (they're also considerably cheaper).

That's what I'm going for - the 'black' OE ones

You get less brake fade with Green pads & we have had issues with noise on the black stuff, which is why we switched to TMD (Mintex).
