just recently had a new powered steering hose and other long pipe fitted (not to sure of the name of that, was really expensive though as could only get it from fords). since this has been done i have had a strange noise which starts when the car is started and continues to become louder when accelerating in lower gears (after say 3rd gear the noise of the engine seems to drown out the noise), when on full lock noise becomes very loud.
i have been told it may be the powered steering pump as before the new hose was fitted i was running very low on fluid and have been told i have probably ruined the pump due to this. does this sound right to anyone?? i have just recently found a small leak of what looks like powered steering fluid, could this be coming from the pump or has the hose or pipe not been fitted properly? had the problem around 3-4 weeks now but not noticed any fluid since having the pipes changed.
also i have found a pump on ebay for £30, is that a good price??
thanks in advance
