04 1.8 Manual to Electric door mirrors - KevHull87
How easy is it to change a manual wing mirror into an electrical one?

{it's one of my many pet hates to see door mirrors still being referred to as wing mirrors, so changed the header}

Are the mirrors on the wings or doors ?

I'd take one of the existing mirros off and see if the wiring is already there for the electric ones, if so then it's probably fairly straightforward - unless it's all controlled via CANbus etc.

I think you'll be safe from CANbus on a Mk1.

What spec is it Kev?

Wing mirrors are on the wings and door mirrors are on the doors. Not the same thing ;-)

The only wing mirrors I see now are on imported Japanese SUVs as an additional mirror.

Wing mirrors are now on doors. This is fine because glove boxes now rarely contain gloves. They are more often to be found in door bins, which are attached to the inside of doors, the outside of which support the mountings for the wing mirrors. Simple really.

Yes and there are Pontefract Cake Storage Bins in the back of the CRV. (I made that up)

Electric ones are heated when the HRW is on and have a single switch instead of separate knobs and different trim so quite a lot is needed,not just the wiring.
