Ok, here's something i've pondered on for a while, just wondered whether anyone here could enlighten me on it (maybe even Mr Honest John himself?!).
How will the U.K registration number scheme adapt to the fact that 2010 will mean an extra digit on every numberplate, bringing it from 7 to 8 digits.
Will every plate get slightly bigger, or will the digits get slightly smaller? I'm curious to know!

No extra digits. The sequence is ... 08, 58, 09, 59, 10, 60, 11, 61 etc.

As if they changed it and it was not going to last a while... take a look at:
www.dvla.gov.uk/media/pdf/leaflets/inf104.pdf
And when its exhausted all numbers for years they can reverse it.

I thought this was already explained when they introduced this new system back in 2001?

I'm thinking 010 then 510 - a return to three numerals. I haven't seen anything official on this subject though - does anyone know?
