If the EML is on then its definitely in LOS mode (Limp). Cant understand why you are not getting any joy with getting the codes read.
As it has had an engine swap I'd be looking for a connector adrift, likewise for the traction control.
Is the ABS warning light on?

will it rev over 4500 rpm, stationary, not under load.

hi will try tomorrow.does 80mph at 3000revs if that means anything.had engi ne swap before iaquired car ,not a good job thou, alarms not working, wonder if that affects the ecu somehow.thanks.

Who did the diagnostics check (Vauxhall / independent?) if not Vauxhall, do you know what kit they used?

Does it have aftermarket (non GM) audio in it?
If it does, unplug the head unit before running the diagnostics check, as I believe the factory unit is also checked for faults, and if the diagnostic machine gets a response from the head unit it doesnt understand gives up checking........
I found this on an Omega I had, no fault codes shown, until I pulled the head unit out, expected codes then appeared (in my case O2 sensor - plus was waterlogged!)
