Misfiring in 1999 328 - smiling1
hello All,

I was wondering if anyone could throw any light on the following problem. I have a low speed/low RPM "juddering" problem in my car. So far it's only appeared just after starting, when I'm moving off, and only if I don't apply much throttle. It almost exclusively occurs in first gear.

When I took the car to the Dealer, they found a camshaft sensor which neded replacing. since they caried out the work, the problem hasn't gone away. I took it back a second time, but they couldn't find anything wrong with it.

Does anyone have any ideas? (Or failing that does anyone know of any good BMW specialists, who know the E46 inside out)

Also, I have a question on Refurbished alloys. A Wheel/Tyre specialist nearby (Monty's wheels & tyres in Iver, Bucks) offers this service, does anyone have any reports (good/bad or indifferent) about the service. will it make the wheels last any longer (i.e. less likely to crack), or shorten the lifespan, or is it entirely cosmetic?
Thanks

Your juddering problem could be something like poor injector spray pattern or carbon build-up on the inlet valves. I would suggest having the fuel injectors removed, tested, cleaned and renewed as necessary. This sort of problem would not show up with a computer scan at the dealer-hence no problem found. You could try an in tank injector cleaner for this condition but it won't necessarily work and certainly not quickly.

Thanks David, I think I'll try both. But I was under the impression that most suppliers added detergents to their fuel already?

I think this has only happened with my foot off the clutch (most severe when my foot is off the accelerator too)
