car sounded like it was miss fireing today, upon removing the spark plugs i found they were swamped with engine oil, i suspect the gasket around the rocker box cover but any input would be helpful. tar very much

Yep, that's the usual culprit. When changing, remember to also change the rubber 'o' rings that go around the rocket rocker cover securing bolts, and to also clean out the breather while you've got the rocker cover off.

upon removing? is the oil from the leaky gasket filling the plug wells or are the firing tips and threads of the spark plugs wet with oil?
