I cannot find a module all I can find on the nearside is a black plastic box held on a slide clip behind the battery tray containing 3 relays and 3 fuses is it anything to do with this. Behind this tray there is a round screw together socket fitted to the same bracket

It's inside the front wing; you have to remove the arch liner to access it - only a suggestion anyway - go with a code read.

P1138 is one of the terrible twins on an HDi; it - and it's mate P1112 - really don't help an lot. [What was the other code?]
In full, the code definition is:- "Fuel pressure: stop requested, but regulator still active."
A sticking regulator is one of the possible causes; these don't like supermarket fuel, it's too dry for some and can cause the reg to stick.
Whip it out; check it's tip for swarf and it's o-rings for cracks.

Thats great but where do i find this regulator. as far as the other code is concerned he did not say because it had cleared
|
The regulator is the round black bit in the middle of the engine fuel pump.
Mind it's tip.
|
there appears to be 2 hex headed bolts holding this in place, do i have to undo these to remove the regulator

sorry its taken so long to get back to you, but pulling hair out. I have taken the car to the local diesel specialist who agreed with you and have replaced the reg with another albeit a refurbished one. Picked the car up apparently all OK drove home approx 8mile without any problem parked up and engine kept running for 1 or 2 seconds after turn off. started car in the morning and behold anti pollution fault & engine management light on. Returned car to same company & again they replaced the reg with another one. Same trip home again no problem & exactly the same thing happened when parked up.Any suggestions or answers gratefully recieved.

What was the other code when originally read and what codes come back now?
How stable is the fuel pressure reading?
|
I think the original was P1138 and the other one I cant remember the code but it was something to do with nearside ABS censor which was removed and cleaned and is now OK. Car going back again today and I will find out what the code is. It still comes up with anti pollution, has no revs and runs on when engine is switched off. I will try and find out about the fuel pressure reading.
