01 1.8 tdcl vibration - paul251182
I have a 2001 focus and at about 60-70mph i have a vibration and shuddering throughout the car. I have been to a well known tyre chain and have my tyres and balancing checked and all was ok. The car has since been to three garages and they can not find any fault with the car. If i go over 70mph it gets worse and then disapears completely. Does anyone has any sugestions as this is starting to annoy me!

Your choice of well known tyre chain will not find you problem. This could be a damaged rim, i.e. not round or buckled, particularly if they are alloys. It could also be a deformed tyre so local a permornace car specials and let them find the problem. I assume if you dip the clutch and get off the gas it does not stop the vibration. If the vibration is not in the steering then remember the rears can cause the shudder. Regards Peter

I have checked this as i have replaced all 4 rims with a friends car. It is not as bad if i dip the clutch at speed. So could the clutch be the problem?
