2004 1.6 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A - bobf123
Hi guys,

Does anyone know where I can find "Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A" on my Peugeot 307 54 Reg Diesel? I've got this nasty message "Anti-Pollution Fault"

Thanks,

Bob

There's not an EGR sensor as such; what's the code number?

It's P0405. I've also got codes P1445, P1351 and P2408

Thanks

P0405; EGR valve position sensor A - low signal voltage.

P1351: Glow relay circuit - relay not controlled/no glow supply.

P1445; Additive system - excessive quantity.

P2408: Additive system - fuel tank cap presence sensor.

Time for some wallet emptying at you smiling Peugeot dealer....

Thanks a lot for the answer.

Sorry for being a pain but can you possibly answer few more questions please?

Is there any chance I could add the additive myself?

Also code P2408 - Does it mean that the sensor needs replacing and can i do it myself?

Code P0405 - When you say "Low signal voltage" Does it mean that the contacts need cleaning? Also where is EGR valve positioned at the front or the back of the engine?

Thanks a lot again, any help would be highly appreciated.

The inference of those codes is a serious FAP/additive problem of some sort - nothing normal. Unless someone's been fiddling, it's already too full[??] so no more needed.

You are going to need to become - or find - an Eolys expert to make sense of that mess. If the mileage is over 50K; you'll likely need the whole lot replacing and re-programming. Expensive; but the best move.

The EGR valve should be right down the back of the engine; the code doesn't necessarily mean that it's the valve and there's not a lot you can do with one.

A code doesn't mean start throwing parts at it - that way leads only to dealer profits. The cap sensor needs testing - nothing more. [I've data if you want it.] The magnets fall off the caps quite regularly too.

Thanks for everything, you were very helpful. Is there any chance you could give me the data about the cap sensor?

Cheers.

Measured from the additive ECU; 12-15 Ohms cap off and 150K-Ohms cap on.

Before you go poking around; at least learn the basics of what you're walking into:-

Thank you for the educational link, it really explains a lot.

One more question though, would you know where the additive ECU is positioned?

Cheers

It should be under the passenger's seat.

Sorry for being a pain. I had a look under the passenger's seat and the only unit I could find was Magnet Marell - Marwal Systems, would it be it? If yes then do you know which wires I need to look at?

Thanks
