Anyone used carhireexcess.com?
You can do short hires at a daily rate. Cover looks pretty standard and it saves having to buy an annual policy.

It depends how many times you hire cars abroad I guess. I find a certain firm's annual policy for Eurpope at £49 excellent value. A large international hirer asked me to pay £150 for 7 day's XS on a Megane estate in Germany last year.

Last time I hired abroad I hired via Holiday Auto, with the car being provided by Hertz. I took out the extra cover from Holiday Auto at £9/day. Within the hour involved in a major accident (HGV hit us) and the car was a right off. I had to pay the excess initially and claimed back via Holiday Auto and they settled quickly.
I know Hertz cover for this was a lot more than £9/day. And the initial excess was less having booked via HA too.
