I might, if it were built in China and not in the UK. (well... maybe not;)
To put it another way, it seems they won`t have a very high bar to jump over regarding quality and build faults to compete with previous production here.
( wonder if the guy who assembled my Rover Maestro is reading this courtesy of his benefits giro?)
Just jammed the window glass in for a joke huh? so it just fell into the door bottom first time the handle was touched hundreds of miles from home on a camping trip.
You can bet Chinese Rover`s are going to be a success if they are built in China.
A pigeon coming home to roost?, its a long way to fly, maybe if they alter the badge a bit...

I think I saw they were called Roewe now too

Apologies for the above. I still can`t help the bitterness after all these years as it took us 5 years to pay for the `Rover` at a time when we were strapped paying the mortgage.

There are plenty of good cars around now with well developed engines and galvanised bodies.
Why on earth would one consider a half-developed design made in China of all places? Land fill in 6 months, like all of the other junk our politicians let the Chinese sell over here to artificially depress our inflation rate.
Pollution on wheels.

Built in the UK wasn't the problem. Look at the Rover 200/400 series. Built in the UK, but under Japanese quality control and production systems. They are still a common sight on H and J registrations, still going strong, and for the most part still looking half presentable. You can't say the same for the Astras and Escorts of the same era.
I've driven lots of these, some with well over 100,000 miles, and frankly I can't see how Ford and Vauxhall sold any cars while this was a current model. They go well, look good, are well screwed together and boast a light, airy interior that, although showing its age, is still very easy on the eye.
Cheers

In Hongkong a few weeks back, I saw some very impressive looking Chinese cars.

If you look in the dictionary under design fault there's a picture of the Rover 200 series.

Those Rover's were more expensive than Astra's and Escorts when new. Also I see more MK3 Astra's than then Ronda rovers.
|
They were better made though.
