Car tax query on a new car.

Car tax query on a new car. - egor110
I pick up our new (old) car on Tuesday , how do i get it taxed as the insurance company is shut until sat so may possibly get documents by Tuesday more likely weds, and the log book will have the previos owners name in it?

Are you buying it from a trader? If so can they tax it using their trade insurance?

Depends on how efficient your insurer is. Mine got my policy onto the MID overnight and pPost Offices don't need the paper certificate anymore so long as it's on the MID.

You won't get the whole V5, just the slip on page two which enable you to tax it until the V5 comes in your name.

Some dealers have the capability if issuing tax disks themselves, so if the insurance company will fax the Certificate (they usually will) then that *might* be adequate.
