1996 1.4 - loss of electrics/lights - Gary1

My son has a 1996 fiesta which has just had a new 1.4 zeetec enngine fitted. Since then the fuel guage does not work and as soon as you need lights at night the engine dies. Has also died while driving along but this is intermittant. Believe this may be an electrical/bad earth fault but need some help in which direction to look. We have already checked the earths and cleaned them up but still getting worse.

Any idea's?

Did you transfer over the alternator from the old engine? Or have you used a different one? Try fitting in a different battery and check all earths.
