2006 1800 TDCi - Revs increasing - bazza1603
Hi,

Is this anything to worry about?

Our Ford Focus 1800 TDCI Sport 06 plate with 13K on the clock has started revving by 250-600RPM if you dip the clutch in traffic. The revs will hold for a second or two and then drop back to normal. This is happening normally between 1000 - 2000 RPM and its in traffic jams when you notice it.

I have the car booked in to the dealers on Monday to get the passenger side Airbag switched off, so hHopefully be able to fix it at the same time.

Last time I seen a diesel rev, it couldnot be turned off and expired in a big way!

Thanks

Baz

Been to dealers today and they couldnot find a fault and no fault code has been stored. Car was on best behaver today.

However yesterday was increasing by nearly 1000RPM.

Any ideas?

Not a common one. Maybe a throttle pedal sensor or temp sensor issue?

Not sure whether this is relevant but my old 2002 1.8 TDDI Focus did this and it was the drive-by-wire throttle that was at fault. Sitting in traffic with an idle speed of 1200rpm was noisey on those old diesels!

Didn't do it all the time but was frequent enough for me to source another pedal for around £80 and a 10 minute installation.
