01 help needed with steering rack - scfc_151
A while ago i replaced a track rod and inner track rod end (the rack end) joint on a 306 estate (2001)

I had a few problems with not getting it tight enough in the thread and after a few weeks the steering was knocking again. I used lock tight on the thread and tightened it as much as possible and its been fine for 8months or so

The problem has now returned so im going to get it done professionally depending if its cost effective.

I was wondering wether a mechanic would tighten the track rod again or would it need a recon steering rack if its the inner thread thats the problem.

Anyone got any ideas of cost for this

thanks

Don't tie rod joints normally either have a locking tab washer or else the metal is peened over to stop the joint unscrewing?

yes theres a washer that should stop it unturning but that didnt work!
