I know a bloke who is looking for the plastic undertray that sits under the engine in the old shape Audi A4 TDI. VAG are looking £225 for a replacement. Other than VAG breakers any bright ideas??
As far as I am concerned these are to reduce noise and improve MPG with better areodynamics, True / Fasle ??

Vern:
Is the undertray completely trashed? The undertray on my Dad's A3 developed a 30cm long crack, so the front was flapping down. He glued it back together with Araldite and so far so good.
£225 sounds like extortion.

Audi do seem to be aware of the adverse reaction that their high parts prices have.
When the cars get to four/five years old some prices fall.
Oddly enough, I witnessed this on an Audi 80 undertray (called a Sound Deadener by Audi). I was quoted £180 in 1999, but 'only' £90 in 2002.
Brake component and suspension parts prices also fall.
And finally, they have bought back the 'old fashioned' parts desk! (At least at the revamped dealer in Reading)...
In the end, I found an undertray at a breakers.

Most cars need them fitted to reduce "drive-by" noise to meet legal levels.

Yep, they're called Acoustic Shields. My A4 TDi one broke (the front one) and that was £110! What a rip-off.
But it was noticeably louder without it.
