Ive just come to replace the wipers on my dads 406 estate.
I parked the wipers in the middle of the screen due to the recess of the wiper arms behind the bonnet and changed the passenger side no problem
The drivers side however wont lift off the screen far enought to change the wiper
It started raining at this point so i didnt get a proper look. Is there something obvious to lift the blade off the screen or does the arm need to be unbolted
cheers

It can be done with the arm still on the car, but it is fiddly.
You have to sort of slide the new wiper along the arm to click it into the hook fitting, rather than the traditional twist through 90 degrees and click.

Hi,
It's best to remove the drivers side one by removing the nut holding the arm on. I gave up trying to fit the blade without the arm off.

On the (mechanically similar?) Citroen C5 there is a maintenance position for the wipers.
You need to switch off the ignition and push the wiper stalk downwards. The wipers will then move to a position where the blades can be removed.
