Posted on behalf of friend.
Vehicle involved is a Rover 75 saloon, I.8 turbo petrol, on 03 plate.
If the vehicle goes through water and underpan gets wet the vehicle cuts out. No fault codes, no warnings.
Left alone for 10 mins vehicle starts and runs no bother.
This has occurred three times so far and friend scratching his head and he knows a fair bit about motors.
Any suggestions.

What springs to mind is water getting into sensor (or related cable that's chaffed) and providing a low-impedance path thereby losing signal. I would be thinking maybe crank sensor or anything else that's getting splashed. Maybe have car on ramps and have a flower sprayer to spray water on underside cables and connectors with engine running?

They're fairly famous for soaking their ECUs when the plenum drains block up. Maybe some spray gets back up the drain?
Thermal shock on the crank sensor is another - slight - possibility.

Checking/clearing all three plenum drains and the ECU housing for water would be a good place to start. There's a series of how to's and free advice available on the owners club forum (free to join).
