Loosing coolant - petervm

After about 60 miles driven, the car looses about 2 pints of water. There are no indications of any leakage. The engine runs perfectly. No sign of any water coming from the exhaust pipe either. I am planning to have a compression test carried out, to see wheather the head gasket is leaking, but what other clue would be there to find the fault? Where does the water go?
