04 Merc A160 cdi - Engine specs ? - piston power
Hello, my grandad as just bought this car a 54 plate diesel with 55,000mls on the clock with full merc history, is there any known problems with these car's? does it have a cam belt or timing chain/gears?.
It seems to drive spot on i think it is a 1.7td? 05 on i think they are 2.0td? hope some one can help with any known probs etc? many thanks Bigtee.

A '54 would be where they changed from 1.7 to 2.0, so it could be either I think.
Essentially same design of engine, a chain-cam with engine tipped over. Access is very difficult on these.
Lots of problems of one sort or another.. clutch, HP fuel pump (would be done under warranty), suspension parts, steering linkage wear.
